SEAF
I just found out that last year I was also the audience pick winner as well as #2 jury pick. Why am I just finding this out now? Because they FORGOT TO TELL ME.

I still protest there are no fancy ribbons for winning. Well really no prizes at all. Not even a website feature or mention. Lame.

I got 3 out my 5 entries into SEAF which is pretty fancy. I was very very surprised. I have 3 pieces out of 215 pieces chosen from 2,100 submissions received from 530 artists in 38 states and 29 countries."

The accepted pieces were:

Oh I know it's a long shot but...

.... do any of you know any young ladies between the ages of 12-15?

I need to get a shot of a girl and a boy in their first kiss. I have a handsome young gentleman willing to take a bullet for art but not a girl.

It's all sweet and innocent, I swear. I will need a parental release form signed.

In other news I am looking for another not so young lady to stage play the horizontal mombo with this man

not at all innocent. He's gay so lady parts mean nothing to him, you will still be chaste! Ping me and I'll let you know the details. It's alot less naughty than you think.

What I love about this photo is hte classic body posture of the modle. Very pin up. Coy, yet relaxed, and alluring.

One day I'll grow up and be LP

Her body shape is a perfect model for a marble sculpture.

It was winter in Kew Gardens so most of this was in a hot house which is really difficult to keep your lens from fogging. I had to utilize snorkeling tricks.

This was about 50 yards away in the middle of a pond. Yea long lens! Wish I'd had a tripod with me.

Hey kids. It's done. I finished it last night. If you would be so kind as to help me spread the word you would be hot sauce in my pants. For shooting it in two days it dosen't appear to suck.

I wrote this blurb but feel free to amend it as you see fit. Spread the love!

"I wanted to announce to that the Aid for Seattle Aids 2008 Calendar & Store is here! The calendar and shop were created as a fundraiser for local and national AIDS foundations. Together with the help of Carol McNeilly& 12 Amazing Men they were able to create this luscious calendar for you. The shop features photographs and design by Artana of famed Shot in The Dark Photography.com. So start your holiday shopping early! www.aidforseattleaids.com"

Oh yes, go buy it too.

I am currently shooting a hot mens calendar that, I hope, to have done by the 29th. The calendar will be going on sale for $29.95 (plus $5shipping) 100% of all proceeds are donated to foundations such as Life Long Aids Alliance, Bailey Boushay House, Delta Society, Rise N Shine, & Sistah 2 Sistah. If you are interested in the Calendar I am taking pre sales. http://www.artana.net/cal/aids07/AIDS_CAl_2007.html

I need 7 more models for the AIDS Calendar. TFP

I am still trying to get it done by the end of September.

If you have people for me or need a excuse to kick somone in the but to get me the model form needed http://www.shotinthedarkphotography.com/Contact.html#model now is the time. I will not consider any model until this form is sent to me.

I want to do a big long all day photoshoot Sunday Sept 16th. Starting from 10am until I am done. I need a two hour time slot some time that day to shoot each model. We'll hash out details later. Also I want to shoot that following week in the evenings after 6 pm and I have one slot available Saturday night the 15th.

I want to publish their gender preference and HIV status with their picture. I’m looking for all gender preferences. The idea is that AIDS can affect anyone. Also this is not a big nudy man calendar. I am looking for sultry all clothes on to bare buns, depending on the level of nudity the models are comfortable with. Sexy comes in all forms.

So help a girl out and find me some nice man flesh ;)

I did a triple shoot this weekend, two for the Darling Darkling Calendar and one for the AIDS calendar. My mood started out super tired and cranky where nothing was right and ended on a super positive "aren't I a bad ass" sort of idiots euphoria.

In the midst of my IE I reflected upon how amazingly fortunate I am to have met the people I have who help me do my shoots. My work would not be half as cool without the generous donation of makeup skills, random horse lending, and someone to help me pull down bikini bottoms. I am just really really really lucky to have all these generous artistic supportive folks around me to help me in creating my visions.

so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

to all the people who have helped me on all these shoots.

Wow you guys amazing.

17 August 2007 @ 11:32 am
I shot the cover for the Aids calendar. Here is a mock up of the cover:

I still need a slogan and a title. The 12 months are going to be your average man studly with the Artana twist. here will be no man part nudity but lots of hot and heavy sexy. what I want to promote is that AIDs isn't a death sentence anymore, the money and reassurance has gone far in the care of HIV patients. They are not bed riddled corpses, this cover shot proves that. Sex isn't a death sentence but we still need to be careful. I want to celebrate the life all the fund raisers have prolonged and bettered.

Anywho anyone have any title or slogan ideas?

Hi,

I have a shoot on Wednesday and we will be shooting in public. I need a wingman to help manage crowd control and answer stupid people questions. Basically you need to keep the people away form me and the model so we can get the shoot done. this sometimes involves talking to authorita people. My usually wingman is busy. Anyone available?

We will be shooting in West Seattle at about 5:30, traffic permitting. I can pick you up DT or on Cap Hill.

One of the peices I lent BYOA was stolen, a framed Dirty Seafood The insulting bit was the SOAP board who decided what the piece was worth for reimbursement. That was as charming as getting your car assessed by an insurance agent. I guess some reimbursement money is better than none. I'm also glad I used a pre fab frame vs the nice custom one I was going to buy. Worse still is I am sure it was tossed away into some rubbish bin.

In happy thoughts here is a picture from SEAF that I just found of the "I, Spy" piece lovingly referred to as the coffin. I wish I could hire her to just sit like that in front of the box for every show.

I staged this photo but because I wasn't an official photog @ SEAF I had to grab an event photog that was kind enough to take it for me.

So, anyone go to BYOA? How was it? Was my peice fabulous?
